For more than 38 years, our graduates have been sought after in the media industry. Now we are building a bridge for more systematic matching of graduates and employers.
The 2nd JMS Future Indaba consists of workshops for job-seeking students
which culminate in Media Careers Fair on 20 - 22 August 2009.
You are invited to participate in the Careers Fair which consists of 40 minute seminars during which each company has the opportunity to address Rhodes journalism students, showcase their opportunities, and answer questions the students might have. The last day of the Fair (22 August) will include communications students from other Eastern Cape universities.
It all happens at the African Media Matrix –
the home of the School of Journalism and Media Studies in Grahamstown.
Careers Fair/Seminar Guidelines:
- Company representatives can give students background information about the company and explain employment possibilities within the company.
- Companies can also use the occasion as an opportunity to collect CVs or explain to students the process of applying for a job or internship.
- Companies can also hand out brochures or contact details.
- Each company is also entitled to have a stall where students can interact with you.
- Companies can also provide the School with promotional videos or PowerPoint slides that can be displayed on screens.

Closing date for applications: 22 July 2009
Costs: R350 registration fee (to assist in the covering of some costs + each company are responsible for its own travel and accommodation costs).
Teas and lunches will be provided for Thursday, Friday and Saturday as well as a cocktail function Friday night.
